It has been said that “Character is what you are in the dark” and that “The true test of a person’s character is what they do when no one is watching.” I am reminded from my graduate studies in theater that the actor must play the character with integrity and authenticity if the audience is to believe the role. The manner in which we live and move and have our beingness is expressed to the degree that we are honest, open, vulnerable, and authentic. We are always at choice whether to act based on the Higher and True character(istics) or the lesser and false. Let’s explore what this means and how it looks when practiced.
